The HHH Hawk X is the upgraded version of the Hawk 250 dual sport. It keeps the full-size enduro frame and 21"/18" wheel setup, and adds a 223cc balance-shaft engine that runs smoother, makes more power and tops out around 75 mph. It comes with a complete street-legal equipment package, so you can ride the pavement to reach the trailhead, then keep going on dirt.

Balance-Shaft Engine: Smoother and Faster
The Hawk X's biggest upgrade is inside the engine. Single-cylinder engines naturally shake as the piston moves up and down. A balance shaft is a counter-weighted shaft that spins against that motion and cancels most of the vibration.
On the road, that means less buzz through the bars, pegs and mirrors at cruising speed. It also means less fatigue on long rides.
The 223cc engine produces 16.09 hp at 7,500 rpm and 13.28 ft-lb of torque at 5,000 rpm. Combined with revised gearing, that lifts top speed to around 75 mph, roughly 10 mph more than the standard Hawk 250.
The 9.0:1 compression ratio runs happily on regular unleaded.
Carburetor Fuel System and 65 MPG Economy
A carburetor feeds the engine. It's simple, field-serviceable and easy to re-jet if you add an aftermarket exhaust or ride at high altitude.
To keep it running cleanly:
- Use fresh fuel.
- Add a stabilizer if the bike sits for more than a couple of weeks.
- Drain the float bowl before long-term storage.
The Hawk X is rated at 65.34 mpg. With a 3.7-gallon tank, that works out to a theoretical range of around 240 miles. That's far enough for long trail days or a week of commuting on one tank.
5-Speed Manual Gearbox and Dual Starting
A heavy-duty clutch and 5-speed foot shifter give you full control:
- First and second: crawl technical climbs.
- Third and fourth: handle fire roads and town streets.
- Fifth: settles the engine at highway speeds.
A chain carries power to the rear wheel.
Electric start covers daily use. The kick starter is your backup if the 12V/6.5Ah battery goes flat far from home.
Enduro Chassis, Suspension and Brakes
The Hawk X rides on a full-size enduro chassis:
- 21" front wheel: rolls over rocks and ruts rather than dropping into them.
- 18" rear with a 110/100 tire: puts real traction on dirt, gravel and grass.
- 8.3" ground clearance: keeps the engine cases above logs and ledges.
- 53.93" wheelbase: balances stability on fast roads with agility on tight trails.
Dual hydraulic front forks and a swingarm with a central rear shock soak up washboard dirt roads, gravel, roots and potholes.
Hydraulic disc brakes at both wheels give consistent stopping in dust, mud and water, where cable-operated brakes lose feel. Use the rear brake on steep, loose descents to keep the front wheel from washing out.
Street-Legal Equipment
The Hawk X includes a full road package:

The configuration is EPA-approved.
To ride on public roads, you'll also need what your state requires for any motorcycle: registration, insurance, a motorcycle license or endorsement, and a DOT helmet. Rules for dual sports vary by state, so confirm with your DMV before your first road ride.
Size and Rider Fit
The Hawk X measures 82.3" long, 36.2" wide and 56.7" tall. With a 35.4" seat height, it best suits riders about 5'8" and taller. Shorter riders will be on tiptoes at stops.
At 280 lbs net weight, it's light for a full-size dual sport. That makes it easier to maneuver on tight trails and to pick up after a tip-over.
Maximum load is 331 lbs, covering the rider plus any gear.

The Hawk X ships brand new and 70% assembled in a reinforced metal crate, with a tool kit included. The remaining assembly typically covers:
